The Gepida Reptila 1000 is a superb piece of engineering. This model uses a different type of drive technology to our other models. In this system, the motor is not fitted into a wheel hub, but sits beneath and behind the pedal cranks and the bottom bracket. A drive gear transmits the motor drive directly to the bicycle chain. This means that the motor's output operates through the bicycle gearbox. This makes for a very clean and efficient system. A torque sensor built into the pedal cranks senses how much effort the rider is putting into turning the pedals, and the motor output increases in proprtion to the effort being made. This enhances the systems efficiency further still.
The Lithium Polymer battery is a compact unit that locks into the frame low down, so the centre of gravity of the bike is very low, making handling very relaxing. Fully charged the range of the machine is between 31 and 49 miles, but it is important to bear in mind that the weight of the rider, and the nature of the road surface, topography, and wind conditions will all affect the quoted ranges.
