The Pedego Range of Electric Californian Beach Cruisers
Cool....laid back.....relaxing.....above all stylish and fun. New to the UK is the Pedego Beach Comfort Cruisers. Combining traditional West Coast American styling with cutting edge technology, the Pedego range of ebikes has a model to suit virtually any riding requirements - but with panache!
Originally designed in Irvine in Southern California, the beach Cruisers are available in either traditional crossbar or step through models. The bikes make a great choice for riders who want something a bit different.
Fitted as standard with a 250w intelligent brushless motor coupled to a 36V 10A Lithium-ion battery, the Beach Cruisers will propel their riders effortlessly up to the legal maxiumum speed of 15mph and offer ranges of up to 30 - 35 miles (dependent on rider weight, terrain, road surface and wind).
To offer even more comfort, the pedal cranks are mounted further forward than conventional bicycles, offering a much more upright and "open" riding posture - a bit like riding your favourite armchair. A generously padded gel saddle and wide US cruiser style handlebars make this a rewarding rider experience.
A twist and go throttle is provided to give assistance from a standing start, but cuts out at about 3mph. This is to satisfy forthcoming EU legislation.
The frames are all 6061 aluminium, and come in a true rainbow variety of colours. The battery is locked into the integral rear rack.
The chain drive operates through a 6 speed Shimano SIS indexed gearbox. 26 inch wheels are fitted with Kenda 26x2.3 K-RAD Urban fatboy style tyres, and the wide handlebars are mounted on a Promax stem.
Braking is excellent, and is provided by an Avid BB-7 front disc and a Dia-Compe rear hub brake. A centre stand is provided, and the bike comes complete with optional mudguards.
An integrated rear wheel lock is built into the rear brake unit that prevents the bicycle being ridden.
