Raleigh bikes are probably one of the oldest bicycle mannufacturers in the world. Raleigh commenced business in 1887 in Raleigh Street, Nottingham, England, and subsequently have been making bicycles that have been exported worlkdwide ever since.
Now, Raleigh have stepped into the Electric Bike Arena, with a range of smart, up to date and innovative electric bikes, enhancing a 124 year tradition of being at the forefront of design.
There is a Raleigh bike for every style of rider, but basically, the models in the range fall into two broad categories.
Firstly, there are the "Executive Cruisers", the Dover and Leeds models, which combine elegance and technology in a sophisticated package that should satisfy even the most demanding of commuters.
The Leeds range is available in both Step Through and Crossbar variants, but both have a superb specification.

The Lightweight 26V 12A Lithium Battery offers a range of 30 - 60 miles, (depending on rider weight, topography, nature of road surface, tyre pressures etc)
The 250w drive system is a supremely efficient centre drive, which has the double benefit of lowering the bikes centre of gravity, but also enhances the batteries endurance by driving the assisted power through the bikes own gearbox. This has the effect of making hill climbing very effective using the power assist.
The Leeds is available in both Step Through and Crossbar styles, and has a very reasonable retail price of £1999.00

Raleigh Dover
The Raleigh Dover range is very similar to the Leeds range, except that it is specified with a Shimano 3 speed gearbox, and has a slightly lesser range of 25 - 50 miles, due to a slightly smaller battery (26V 8A)
The Dover carries a retail price of £1699.00 - a lot of bike for your money - backed by the Raleigh name.
So - the Leeds and Dover are true luxury machines, and carry the specification to warrant it! But what do Raleigh offer the utility or leisure rider?
Well - these riders will NOT be disappointed, as Raleigh have two models aimed at the urban or rural rider, who needs a bikes for a multitude of purposes. So, Raleigh offer you the choice of either the Velo Cite, or the Velo Trail.
Velo Cite Hybrid City Bike
The Velo Cite is optimised for urban riding - combining Urban Chic, with techno-flair!
Constructed from a well built premium alloy frame, and fitted with quality Suntour suspension forks, and a Shimano Nexus 7 speed hub gearbox, the Cite is designed for the streets! Alloy Vee brakes enable positive and confident braking, even in the wet, and the 700c Alloy double walled rims fitted with puncture resistant tyres ensure a confident ride. Full length mudguards prevent the City puddles from covering your shoes, and a robust rear rack (which incorporates the battery) accommodates your luggage.
The 36V 10A Lithium battery driving a 250w hub motor will propel the bikefor 25 - 35 miles, and the TMM4 Torque sensor increases the power delivery smoothly as you increase your pedal effort. Available in both Step through and crossbar models, and with frame sizes of 50cm and 55cm, there is a Velo Cite to fit most riders.
The Velo Cite carries a Retail Price Tag of £1199.00 and represents superb value for money - and backed by the reputation of Raleigh!
The Velo Trail is the sister model to the Cite - but its certainly not the "Ugly Sister".
The Velo Trail is a purposeful hybrid machine that is equally at home on the city streets as it is on a country byway, bridle path, or towpath. Available in both Step Through or Crossbar styles, this is a true multi mode machine.
The frame is a lightweight premium alloy, fitted with quality Suntour front suspension forks. It has a Shimano 7 speed derailleur gearbox and has powerful Vee brakes front and rear. Fitted with double rimmed 26" wheels shod with 26 x 2.10 puncture resistant tyres this is a true "go anywhere" machine. Full mudguards protect the rider from the worst of the elements, and the robust rear rack not only carries up to 25kg of luggage, but also houses the 36V 10A Lithium battery.
A TMM4 torque sensor ensures that the power delivery is always optimised to the conditions and this enables the Trail to offer a range of up to 25 -35 miles on a single charge!
The Velo Trail Retails at just £1099.0 - which is not much for a Raleigh quality bike!
