Hybrids and Comfort Models
For those individuals who dont either want or need mountain bike styling, a step through, or a foldable electric bike, we offer some Hybrid designs. These are bikes that have a sturdy frame but are set up with a frame and steering geometry to make for a very comfortable bicycle that is equally at home on city streets, but are sufficiently robust to be ridden along towpaths and bridleways.
They are normally fitted with Hybridt tyres that offer a compromise in terms of the amount of grip delivered, and the level of rolling resistance offered.
Naturally, a mountain bike tyre is designed for cycling across fields, shale, rocks and other rural areas. As such the tyres fitted will be "Knobblies" which have a large raised tread pattern to enable the tyre to grip in less that ideal conditions. However, when used on a tarmac road, the knobbles create a vast amount of rolling resistance, and are much less efficient, so range is decreased, and grip reduced in the wet.
A road tyre on the other hand is optimised for good performance on surfaced roads, and will therefore have a much smoother tread pattern, and will be designed to purge water via grooves in the tyre treads, thus ensuring that the tyre has better contact with the road surface. These tyres will offer minimal rolling resistance.
Hybrid tyres are normally a litle wider than ordinary road tyres, and have a tread pattern that is designed to be a good compromise - the centre section being a road tread for purging rainwater from under the tyre, and small raised knobbles nearer the sidewall. This makes the Hybrid bike a true all rounder. Many Hybrid tyres will also contain a puncture resistant liner to help avoid punctures.
Gepida Reptila 1000 Gents Hybrid
The Gepida Reptila 1000 electric bike is for the discerning rider who wants a bicycle that is comfortable to ride all day, and for both leisure and commuting. Elegantly designed, and available in a number of different frame sizes, the Gepida range is hugely popular throughout Germany, Holland and the Benelux countries. It is fitted with Yamaha's proved direct drive system that operates directly onto the bicycle chain. The lithium battery is compact, and has sufficient capacity to enable ranges of between 31 and 49 miles, at a speed of up to 15mph.
