Immobitag Security Tag
Your bike is a valuable investment, and you will come to rely on it. Preventing the theft of your bike is not to be taken lightly.
There are two ways to prevent the theft of your bike. Firstly, investing in a good quality lock is essential. Many locks are quite cheap, and therefore the quality is sometimes not very good.
However, you CAN be sure that you do get what you pay for. Police guidelines suggest that you spend approx 10% of the value of your bike on a lock to secure it. Don't be duped into buying a cheaplocks which may look really robust and strong. Many cheap shackle locks can be broken quickly and simply with nothing more than a hammer. They may appear well made, but a professional cycle thief will quickly break the lock, and take your bike. Many insurance companies will specify the exact makes and models of lock that they will approve, and will expect you to secure your bicycle to an immovable object.
The majority of people dont seem to justify spending over £100.00 on a lock, so a good compromise is to buy the best that you can afford. You should look for locks that carry the "Sold Secure" logo, as these have been tested and guranteed to withstand attack for a published time. They are graded as Bronze, Silver and Gold. A reasonable quality Sold Secure Silver level lock would cost in the region of £40.00 to £70.00 pounds.
You can further enhance your cycle security by mixing physical security (A good lock) with a Deterrent Effect.
Most cycle thieves are casual opportunists, who will observe a bike parked outside a newsagent or shop, whilst the owner "Just nips in" for a paper. In that 30 seconds, the thief will simply stroll over, mount the bike, and just ride off.
So a deterrent is needed. Greased Lightning Cycles have just the product to help!
Immobitag Bicycle Security System
Immobitag Electronic Bike tagging allows bikes with uninterrupted seat tubes to be traced back to owner using the unique id contained within the electronic tag. The ImmobiTag is embedded into the bike frame and is almost impossible to remove. The unique ImmobiTag ID is then registered on Immobilise together with any frame numbers and warning tag serial numbers to be found on your bicycle.
All tags contain a unique serial number that can be read via special scanners that the majority of police forces are equipped with to display the owner's information via the National Mobile Property Register, which provides the police with access to the Immobilise system. Used by all UK police forces to trace the ownership of stolen property, the Immobilise system is a great deterrent to thieves. This version of the ImmobiTag is designed to fit bikes with standard diameter seat post tubes (25.4mm to 32.0mm diameter).
Please note that ImmobiTag RF devices are designed to give your bike a unique identity that is registered to you, that helps identify and return your property should it be recovered by the police after loss or theft. ImmobiTags are not GPS tracking devices.
Price includes fitting instructions, an anti-theft warning label and free lifetime registration on Immobilise.
The ImmobiTag comes with full instructions. On the back of the packaging it
explains how to fit the tag and activate it online.

The tag is crown shaped, and has "barbs" or tines on the sides. To fit the Immobitag, simply remove the seatpost from the
frame, and push the Immobitag into the seat tube. Next, replace the seat tube, and push the saddle down
as far as it will go. This ensures the tag sits deep inside the frame. The tag emits a unique Radio Frequency
Identification number that is registered online during activation of the tag. Affx the unique bar code and Warning stickers to
a prominent part of the bike frame as a deterent.
Next, take a note of the serial number of your bike, (and if necessary, the battery serial number) a take a good clear digital photograph.
Simply visit the website published on the package, and upload your photo, and register your bike. The details that you upload
are all hooked into the Police Stolen Property Database, and this aids recovery of the bike. Registering the product is FREE, and there
are no ongoing charges or fees to remain on the database.
More importantly, it means that your bike is less likely to be stolen if an Immobitag is fitted.
What Happens if my Bike is Stolen?
In the event of theft the bike's status can be changed from within your online account,
notifying the Police and the second-hand trade. By doing so, a certificate of keepership
can be created to assist in the completion of an accurate crime report and insurance claim.
All aspects of your bike ownership can be managed online with no recurring fees or
subscription charges. If you sell the bike, or move home, this can be updated without
charge.

Kabrus Alarm Padlock
When out riding your Bicycle, whether it is a budget model, or a sophisticated up-market tourer, it represents an investment, and whilst you may have it insured, and Immobitagged, it needs to be locked securely.
Nothing protects your bicycle better than a good quality lock, preferably to sold secure standards. (We can supply these as well, call us for details) We also recommend that when leaving your bike, you attach it to an immovable object, such as street furniture, metal fences, and purpose built cycle stands. You should also invest in a cable that is of sufficient length to thread it through both wheels and the frame, and then through the lock itself. The Police also recommend that you park in a well lit area.
We can now provide an extra level of security with the Kabrus Alarm Padlock.
This padlock is built to high standards, and comes with a hardened anti-twist stainless steel shackle, and a strong casing. The precision cut kets come inover 250,000 different variants, and the unit has a 5 year guarantee.
To use the Kabrus Alarm padlock is simplicity itself. Unlike a conventional padlock, the U shaped shackle is completely removable when the key is turned to the unlock position. The shackle has a groove machined into one "leg". The position of this groove dictates whether the 100dB alarm is armed, or disarmed. If the shackle is replaced into the padlock with the grooved leg nearest the lock, then the alarm will be set. If the shackle is replaced into the unit with the groove away from the lock, then the padlock will be a conventional padlock. Clever, Eh?
Once activated, the padlock alarm will BEEP once loudly to indicate that it is armed. Any attempts to tamper with the bike (either through motion or through impact will cause the alarm to beep again. Further movement or shocks within 5 seconds will activate the very loud 110dB alarm.
To diable the alarm, simply unlock the padlock, remove the shackle, and replace in the opposite orientation.
The Kabrus Alarm Padlock is a wonderful security product, particularly when used in conjunction with the Immobitag.
