The media have a lot to say about transport. It seems that each new government escalates the war against the motorist, resulting in higher costs to operate a car, less parking spaces, more punitive fines for illegal parking, and the hugely unpopular congestion charging schemes which are now emerging throughout some of Britain's larger cities after the "success" of the London scheme.
And its not just car drivers either - its commuters in general. Railway fares have risen, and now we have the added spectre of road pricing.
This scheme is yet another stealth tax under the guise of "congestion charging" the nett result of which is that Councils across the country will be given the legal right to impose tolls on motorists on roads within their jurisdiction without the need for further governmental approval. This new bill also limits the needs for any sort of public consultation either - so your journey to work could become even more costly!
